The Opportunity
The Medical Director at Genentech places a strong emphasis on patient care and scientific advancement. They are responsible for medical strategies that drive progress, generating and sharing data in a timely manner, and understanding clinical and payer issues. They ensure compliance, ethics, and safety and collaborate with clinical and scientific experts.
This role focuses on multiple sclerosis (MS) within the US Medical Affairs team. The Director leads medical activities related to MS, aiming to generate and communicate evidence to assist healthcare decision-making. Additionally, the Director represents the US Medical function in internal and external engagements, requiring strong communication, leadership in matrix environments, prioritization flexibility, and a collaborative approach to solving complex challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and monitor medical strategies, plans, and tactics for the MS program and broader Medical Affairs network, ensuring compliance and safety.
- Engage in advice seeking, community education, and scientific partnerships with therapeutic area experts.
- Design, execute, and publish clinical studies and present relevant data.
- Analyze, interpret, and provide clinical and economic insights, supporting regulatory and scientific communications.
- Act as a representative for Genentech Medical Affairs at key meetings, leading collaborations and leveraging the network of expertise.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Medical Degree (MD) with experience in multiple sclerosis/neuroimmunology/neuroscience
- 4-6 years of relevant clinical / medical pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience
- Understanding of the US health care environment including the payer landscape, evidence-based medicine tools and practices, and health technology assessments
- Ability to navigate complex and challenging situations and flex and thrive in an ambiguous environment
Travel Requirements
Business travel, by air or car, is required for regular internal and external business meetings
This position is based in South San Francisco and offers a hybrid work schedule. Relocation benefits are available for this job posting.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $248,200 - $460,900. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
